GIS OFFICER – Job Opportunity (Jamaica)

The Mona Geolnformatics Institute (MGI) requires the services of a
GIS Officer

Required Skills & Duties to be carried out:
* GIS data management including data mining, data tagging, data
cleaning and data processing
* Create and customize maps using GIS software
* Develop interactive web maps and dashboards using tools like ArcGIS
Online, Mapbox, or Leaflet
* Conduct spatial analysis, including buffer analysis, network analysis,
suitability modeling etc.
* Interpret and convert data into compatible GIS formats
Conduct GPS Fieldwork including asset mapping and field interviews
* Interacting with clients in a professional manner
Ability to manage time adequately and balance multiple priorities
* Use of drones or be open to learning to use drones
Creation of costings for GIS related activities
* Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS (Desktop & Pro), QGIS etc.
* Experience with Cartography, Infographics and writing of reports
* Experience with design software such as Canva, Figma or Adobe
Photoshop would be an asset

Ability to develop GIS training manuals
* Ability to train other people to use GIS software

All candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be
able to work well within a team environment.

Requirements:

* Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in any technical or environmental field
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Proficiency in writing and speaking the English Language
Formal training in the use of GIS & GPS software
* Experience in applying GIS technical skills, GPS data collection and field
coordination for projects
* Excellent interpersonal and team management skills
* Experience in GIS software such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS etc.
* Experience with using ArcGIS Online to create web maps and interactive
dashboards
* Prior utilization of drones to collect data
